Sharpens very well. Use a moderate to light pressure when sharpening. 4 to 5 passes each side. Then use a steel to give a razor edge.

It worked very well. I will only use it 2-3 per year or when necessary to establish the edge. then use a honing bar to maintain a sharp edge.

Any Chef can tell you the dangers of using a dull knife. This presto knife sharpener is definitely cheaper than having your knives sharpened, and it mostly does a good job, but if you have a heavy knife, this sharpener is likely to bind up under the weight of the knife. But for most knives, its 2 stages will leave you with a blade sharp enough for any of your kitchen duties. Just don't try to sharpen a machete.

Hard to really get a knife sharp without chewing up the blade.

It's convenient and gets knives sharp enough to be effective against onions. The only drawback is the gap is pretty wide so it's easy to screw up the angle of the knife while pulling it through.
